Tees Valley and Vale of Mowbray LEADER.

Following a review by Tees Valley Rural Community Council and Darlington Borough Council, the Tees Valley and Vale of Mowbray (TVVM) LAG has concluded that it needs to close the LEADER programme in the area. This decision has been made because the take up of the programme in the area has been limited.

The Rural Payments Agency has looked at alternative arrangements to maintain LEADER funding in the area, but in consultation with Defra it has regretfully concluded that the only viable option is to accept the LAG’s request.

Following the closure of TVVM LEADER programme, RPA will consider options for reallocating the funding within the LEADER Programme. This amounts to about £1.16m. The funding will therefore not be lost to the LEADER programme. No immediate decisions are expected.

Applications received by TVVM LAG to date will be taken through to a decision. If approved, RPA will manage contracts directly.
Businesses in the TVVM area will still be able to access other funding under the RDPE. The local LEP area will, for example, have a share of the £120 million of funding available to rural businesses through the RDPE Growth Programme calls and any future Countryside Productivity calls.
